Va fi urmat de Beowulf's Children (scris in colaborare cu Steven Barnes si Jerry Pournelle) si Destiny's Road (scris doar de Niven).Tau Ceti IV este o planeta colonizata de putin timp, pe care oamenii traiesc ca intr-un vis antic. Dar e si regatul monstrilor Grendel, ce par iesiti dintr-un cosmar mitologic. Convietuirea oamenilor cu grendelii devine precara din ziua in care furioasele si infometatele carnivore comit un atac violent asupra oamenilor, caci grendelii sunt animale teritoriale, care au nevoie de un spatiu substantial de vanatoare. Ei ataca dupa procedee prestabilite genetic, iar urletele lor umplu vazduhul. Intr-o zi, una dintre specii va disparea. Grendelii sau oamenii. Iar ultimele imagini ale luptei vor fi pastrate pentru posteritate.Posteritatea uneia dintre specii. |
